Get to Know Me

I have always been passionate about learning. To me, there is no greater feeling than that of “I get it!”, and even better, hearing a student you helped say so. I am fascinated by the ways we learn, and through my time spent at SPU, I have grown in my knowledge about my own learning, as well as how others learn. My passion for learning is a big part of the reason why I wish to become a teacher, I hope to inspire and encourage my future students to enjoy learning as much as I do .

Growing up, I always enjoyed school, and it was something that I looked forward to and got excited about. EDSCN0570ven now I am happy to still be a student, and I hope to never stop challenging myself in my education, because learning is a lifelong journey. During school, my favorite subject has always been Language Arts. I love reading and writing, and that is why I have chosen to get my Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies with a concentration in Language Arts. To me, reading books is an adventure and an escape. I am amazed how with every story, I can create a different world entirely in my mind. Studying Language Arts at SPU has helped me learn how to find quality literature for my students, and has also taught me effective strategies to get them excited about reading.

Throughout my education, I have had some excellent, dedicated teachers, and through this, I’ve learned just how big of an impact a teacher can have on a student’s educational growth and life skills. This is why I chose to study education: because I want to make a difference in the life of a student, a family, and even a community. I want a career that challenges and encourages me to work hard in everything I do, and one that is always offering new opportunities for improvement. My goal is to put my passions for learning, children, and Language Arts to good use, and through my education at SPU, come out prepared to be the best teacher I can be.
